Our Story
We are a small group of Canadians who spent decades around construction before bringing that experience to Mexico. The company did not begin with a polished office or a large corporate team. It grew from being present, taking responsibility, and doing whatever the project needed.
Mexico changed more than the climate around us. It changed our understanding of design, materials, communication, local knowledge, and what clients building from another country truly need. 2Can Homes is the result: a Canadian-founded company whose working life, relationships, and future are now rooted here.
The Journey
Five human chapters—from Canadian job sites to a company whose life and future are now rooted in Mexico.
Where We Started
Our story begins in Canada, long before the name 2Can Homes. We were builders first—learning the trade on real job sites, working through difficult weather, solving problems with our own hands, and discovering that the smallest details are often the ones that decide how a building ages.
A New Chapter
This was not a distant expansion managed from Canada. We moved here, built our lives here, and began learning the country from the ground up. Mexico became home first; the opportunity to create a construction company came from everything we experienced after arriving.
Building It Ourselves
There were no layers of management between us and the work. We measured sites, priced materials, drove to suppliers, coordinated crews, answered clients, and solved the problems that appeared each day. That period shaped the company more than any business plan could have.
Growing Locally
Project by project, we formed lasting relationships with Mexican architects, engineers, trades, suppliers, and authorities. We learned when to bring our Canadian experience forward, when to listen, and how much stronger the work becomes when international expectations and local expertise respect each other.
Becoming 2Can Homes
2Can Homes is the company that grew from those years: Canadian-founded, based in Mexico, and intentionally hands-on. Today we can manage larger developments and more complex builds, but clients still speak with decision-makers and the founding team still knows what is happening on site.
Two Climates. One Discipline.
We never pretend that a detail designed for Canada should simply be copied into tropical Mexico. What travels well is the discipline behind it: clear scope, resolved drawings, protection from moisture, careful sequencing, inspection, and responsibility that can be traced to a person.

The People Behind the Work
Our founders bring more than 30 years of construction experience. Our Mexican partners bring the architectural, engineering, permitting, trade, and regional knowledge a project here demands. Neither replaces the other—the company works because both are at the table.
Local Architecture
Founder & Director of Studio A
Jorge Arcila is an architect, founder, and director of Studio A, an architecture firm established in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, in 2007.
With 20 years of experience, more than 350 projects, and over 1,000,000 m² developed, much of his work has focused on residential architecture, creating homes that respond to each client's way of living, as well as to the context and unique characteristics of each location.
Through Studio A, he has designed residential projects in Mérida, Cancún, Tulum, Mexico City, and Guadalajara, as well as international projects in Spain, India, and Thailand. This diversity of locations has allowed the firm to work across different climates, landscapes, cultures, and ways of living, while maintaining a contemporary architectural language with a distinctive identity.
His philosophy is based on the belief that every home should be a unique response to the people who inhabit it. For this reason, the design process begins by understanding the client—their routines, needs, and relationship with space—and then translating those elements into architecture.
Studio A integrates architecture, interior design, and construction, allowing each residence to be developed from its initial concept through to its final realization. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that proportions, materials, lighting, landscaping, furniture, and construction details all become part of a unified architectural vision.
In addition to residential architecture, Studio A has participated in real estate developments and projects of various scales, broadening the firm's perspective and strengthening its ability to undertake projects of greater complexity.
